En 990, l’Archevêque de Canterbury, Sigéric, revient de Rome avec son pallium. En consignant son voyage, il grave dans l’histoire ce célèbre parcours de 2000 km qui traverse l’Italie, la Suisse, la France pour s’achever en Angleterre. Aujourd’hui les marcheurs sont de plus en plus nombreux à l’emprunter.

The Via Francigena is a pilgrimage route linking Canterbury to Rome. Approved as a Cultural Itinerary by the Council of Europe, it crosses France over 1000 km from Calais to Jougne. Used by thousands of walkers every year, the route is signposted GR145 (red and white stripes + pilgrim's image).
